    Posting an online classified ad is a lot like putting an ad in your local newspaper with a few important differences. There are ways to get more traffic from your online classifieds if you do them the right way.

    As some of you might remember in my trainings on posting classifed ads, I told you to have a “keyword mindset” when creating your ads. What that means is, try to envision someone going on google and doing a search for, lets say “online business advertising”.

    If you have this keyword phrase in the title and in the body of your ad, the search engine may just put your ad right up on the first or second page for the searcher to see.

    How is that possible you might ask. Well consider this. When you post a classified ad, think of it as publishing a teensy weensy website. I know, that doesnt make too much sense but its true.

    Each Classified ad has its own unique URL or web address, just like a regular website. Therefore it is hosted by the classified company up on the internet for all to see, including the search engine spiders.

    Now if you can wrap your brain around this and keep a “keyword mindset” when you are creating your ad, it might just show up in a top position in the search engines where a lot of folks will see it.

    I am hoping that this makes sense to you because the more you understand SEO (search engine optimization) early on in your marketing efforts the better off you will be in the long run.

    What I mean by cross marketing is basically marketing to another business using the keywords of that business to link your classified ad to your Revenue Magic website. A great example of this is the Prepaid legal ad that we placed a couple of weeks ago in the training.

    Here is the search results for one of the ads we placed using the keywords advertise for prepaid legal leads. See how it ended up on page one for those keywords? Now if a prepaid legal rep wants to advertise for leads they will see the ad, cool huh?

    As you can see, by flooding the other businesses with advertising ads that target these other businesses and using the right keywords your ads can reach the top spots on the search engines and those ads link directly to your Revenue Magic website.

    So, this post is all about cross marketing other businesses with ads about Revenue Magic. After all we are an advertising service that these business owners or affiliates desperately need.

    The first step is to go to the free word tracker tool and type in the name of the business to get keyword suggestions to use in your ads. Remember to only use the ones that have a daily search between 20 and 50 for best results.

    Let your imagination go here to think of other businesses to target, or simply go to google and type in MLM opportunities or network marketing companies or home business opportunities. That will give you a bunch of companies to target your ads to.

    I did a few and here are a couple of my suggested keyword for each company.

    I typed in Shaklee for they word tracker to give me some suggested keywords, here are the results:

    36 shaklee vitamins
    33 is shaklee make-up bad for you
    17 shaklee distributor
    17 shaklee laundry detergent reviews
    15 shaklee marketing

    And here I used Avon:

    46 avon cosmetics
    44 avon representative
    42 doing a presentation on avon skin care
    42 hard to find avon lip gloss
    41 becoming avon representative
    39 avon catalog
    34 avon store
    33 presenting avon skin care
    33 selling avon
    30 avon collectibles vases
    26 avon logo
    26 avon representative websites
    26 your avon

    Lots of classified ads can be created by using one of these keyword phrases in each ad.

    Do two or three ads a day, they are easy to do and the results can be spectacular.

    you may or may not remember in my classified ad training in the conference room, we created an ad targeting the prepaid legal business.

    We wanted that ad to be on page 1 of google and other search engines when a prepaid legal rep. was searching for a way to advertise their business.

    Heres the ad we created:

    You will notice the “keyword mindset” that we used here and that we hyperlinked the keywords themselves, “advertise your prepaid legal opportunity online” right to the Revenue Magic website. We also bolded the keywords (the search engines like bolded keywords).

    This is where classified advertising can get a little tricky so I’ll attempt to simplify it as much as possible for you.

    First, in order to get good keywords for your classified ads you should use This Keyword Tool from word tracker. Just type in the keyword and click “hit me” to get suggested keywords to use for your ads.
    Look for the keywords that have a daily search between 20 and 50 searches. Those will be the most effective ones for your ad. You may need to try several different keyword phrases before you get some good keywords in that range.

    I used “online advertising” and here is a list of keywords that it gave me in the 20 to 50 daily search range.
    46 online video advertising
    44 advertising online
    39 online advertising company
    38 online website advertising
    34 advertising for free online
    28 internet marketing online advertising
    25 business card online internet marketing online advertising
    25 free online classified advertising
    25 internet online marketing advertising business
    25 online advertising trends
    23 online community networking advertising marketing e zine

    20 free advertising online

    As you can see, I can create a classified ad for each one of these keyword phrases because they are all in the 20 to 50 range.

    Now create the ad with the keywords in the title and two or three more times in the body of the ad. Hyperlink one of the keyword phrases to your Revenue Magic website.

    Post the ad and in a day or two do a search using your keyword phrase to see if it is on page 1 of google. If it is thats great. it may disappear after a few days but don’t panic, in a few days it will reappear all by itself, this is normal.

    If your ad ends up a few pages back like on page 4 or 5 or even further back you can help it get to the first page by writing an article or two with the same hyperlinked keywords linking to your classified ad in the signature box of the article as you used in your ad. This puts a one way link to your classified ad which gives it more popularity with google and the other search engines.

    Here’s another  way to drive traffic to your website by using classified advertising.

    After you have posted your first classified ad and it is up and running it is like a miniature website that will get indexed by the search engines. When you click on view my ad it will open a window with your ad in it.

    In the address bar of the window is the URL of your classified ad. Highlight this address and copy it to a notepad for use in your second ad.

    While you are creating your second ad, down at the bottom of the text for your ad simply type in “See My Other Ad about (type in the keywords from your first ad)”. Now hyperlink those keywords using the URL from your first ad.

    This will link both of your ads together. Now view your second ad and save the URL on your notepad for use in your third ad. Repeat the process of typing in at the bottom, “See My Other Ad about (type in the keywords from your second ad)” and hyperlinking the keywords.

    Continue this process for each ad that you create and it will form a “daisy chain” of all your ads being linked together.

    This should only be done with ads that have the same subject matter or relevancy which is what the search engines look for. In other words, dont link ads together that are not relevant to each other such as an ad for dog food should not be linked to an ad for auto parts, those are not relevant to each other.
